The Bale-Tec Story
Bale-Tec Services opened under the direction of Dave Llewellyn in 1994. Shortly after starting, he hired Jason Nemchuck as a service technician. This was a pivotal moment, marking the creation of customer-focused company; one based on knowledge, experience, and a sincere desire to solve problems and produce solutions. During this time, Bale-Tec built a solid reputation and the company grew based on word of mouth.
In 2015, the owners of Ayr Welding (1977) Ltd. purchased Bale-Tec, allowing Dave to retire. To this day Jason continues working, acting as a key figure at the company. Over the years, Bale-Tec has continued to grow, varying the types of equipment and markets where they provide repairs and services, as well as building custom conveyors under the trademark “Convey-Ayr.”

A Letter From Community Living Kingston
“Community Living Kingston and District would like to acknowledge and show appreciation to community partners in Kingston and Gananoque who exemplify what Community Living is all about. This month Kwik Shred would like to acknowledge Jason Nemchuck and Bale-Tec. Bale-Tec is a small company but is a big player in the waste management industry in Canada, building and servicing machinery for the waste disposal industry. Jason provides services from coast to coast. Kwik Shred is a social enterprise operated by CLKD, shredding and recycling on average, 400,000 lbs of paper and 400,000 lbs of metal annually.
Through Bale-Tec, Jason has personally been servicing the paper and metal shredders, and baler at Kwik Shred for over twelve years. With over 35 years of experience in the industry, we feel that Jason goes above and beyond to ensure our plant runs safely and efficiently. Jason fully embraces the concept of Kwik Shred being a social enterprise, employing individuals with intellectual disabilities. He knows that a machine being out of operation not only means lost time, production and revenue, but it also affects the Production Assistants, who are proud of their work and hate to miss any time of their regular shift. We feel that Jason takes the extra time and care when it comes to safety, he sources and modifies our machinery for us, completes annual service inspections and maintenance, does research into additional recycling options, offers advice and support via e-mail and over the phone, and is able to respond to emergencies in a reasonable time frame. Jason is innovative, and always informed on the latest information and trends in the waste management industry. He is compassionate and provides us with consistent and excellent customer service, and for that we are grateful to have him and Bale-Tec as our community partner.”
